, : The effect of plant density on the growth, development and yield of pineapple (Ananas comosus (L) Merr. cv. Smooth Cayenne) in Ghana. Acta Horticulturae (53): 349-354

An increase of plant density from 12 100 to 363 000 plants/ha reduced leaf number, augmented plant height, reduced lodging and decreased the number of suckers/plant. Flowering and fruit ripening occurred earlier and total fruit yield rose but fruit size diminished with increasing plant density.
