Abstract
Barley and oats cv. Forward were grown with or without shelter (palm frond windbreaks) for winter forage at Hofuf, Saudi Arabia. Seedlings emerged more quickly in sheltered plots but final yield was not affected by shelter. Mean yield of oats was 10.4 t DM and of barley 5.8 t DM/ha.
