The effect of sowing date on forage yield and composition of oats, barley and wheat grown under irrigation in Saudi Arabia. 1. The effect of winter-spring sowing date

Publication, Joint Agricultural Research and Development Project, University College of North Wales and Ministry of Agriculture and Water, Saudi Arabia (86): 13

1. Plots for basin irrigation, 6 X 6 m, were sown with oats (cv. Mostyn, origin UK), barley (Australian origin) or wheat (cv. Mexipak Super X, origin USA) each at 5 successive 10-day intervals between 11 January and 20 February in Saudi Arabia. There were 5 replicate plots of each cereal at each sowing date. The plots were irrigated regularly and fertilized with N 75 kg/ha as urea at sowing and 1 month later. Each plot was cut 1 week after heading.
