From approx. 5 mth of age, Russian Large White gilts (20/group) were given a daily supplement comprising 1-5 mg cobalt, 16-141 mg zinc, 48-172 mg manganese and 19-53 mg copper. One group of gilts was inseminated with semen from similarly supplemented boars, and another group with semen from non-supplemented boars. The control group consisted of non-supplemented sows inseminated with semen of non-supplemented boars.
