In three years' experiments with five varieties, the efficiency of 2-chloroethanephosphonic acid treatment of well grown green fruits in accelerating the ripening process depended in part on the variety being treated. Varieties whose fruits ripen slowly, such as Revermun F1, showed a stronger response than the fast-ripening varieties Mewa F1 and Pagham Cross.
