The effective factors of spark discharge and their role in damaging vegetable tissues

Experiments were carried out to isolate the different effective factors of an electric spark. During discharge without flashover, the plant surface is damaged by conductivity currents and damage results from electrobiochemical and structural changes in the plant tissue. The thermal factor and electrical and magnetic field strengths are not significant. After flashover of the plant surface, the principal damaging factor is the pressure on the shockwave front.
