The effects on narcissus bulbs of methyl bromide fumigation used to control bulb scale mite

In studies in the UK in 1973-75, stored narcissus bulbs were fumigated with methyl bromide at rates of 130, 172, 200, 212.5, 250, 260 and 340 mg h/litre at 18 deg C. Some samples were examined for pests, especially the mite Steneotarsonemus laticeps (Halbert), while others were grown on in order to determine whether there were any effects on subsequent growth. All mites were killed by treatment at the 5 highest rates but not by that at the 2 lowest ones.
