The influence of short-rotation forestry on pulp and paper quality. II. Short-rotation hardwoods

The influence of short-rotation forestry on pulp and paper quality. II. Short-rotation hardwoods

Tappi 59(11): 63-66

Reviews the work of a number of researchers to determine the quality of pulp from short-rotation (SR) hardwoods. It is expected that SR hardwoods will be produced by rapid growth, will consist primarily of juvenile wood and will have large amounts of reaction wood. Juvenile wood in hardwoods has relative density and fibre length comparable to those of mature wood.
