In 4 experiments poinsettia cuttings, cvs Annette Hegg or Annette Hegg Supreme, were struck in late March and mid-May in one year and in mid-March and late August in another. Batches of cuttings with 4-5 fully developed leaves were given short (8-h) days with 20-22 deg C minimum night temperature and the length of time necessary for initiation of the first order cyathium was determined.
