The possibility of producing cocoa in the Lower Amazon region of Para

In 1976 the National Programme for Cocoa Production Expansion (PROCACAU) was introduced in Brazil, aiming for an expansion of 300 thousand ha. over the next decade. At present Bahia produces 95% of Brazil's cocoa, but by diversifying production to other regions yield fluctuations may be reduced and the potential of natural resources may be developed.
