The relative performance of barley and wheat under late-sown conditions

In trials in 1970-2, barley Jyoti was sown and wheat Kalyan Sona was either sown or transplanted on 1, 15 Dec., 1 or 15 Jan. Average grain yields decreased from 3.79 to 2.66 t/ha in barley, from 3.5 to 1.76 t/ha in sown wheat and from 4.19 to 2.41 t/ha in transplanted wheat with increasing delay in sowing/transplanting.
