The role of prices in Hungarian horticultural policy

, : The role of prices in Hungarian horticultural policy. Acta Horticulturae (55): 47-52

Most of agriculture has already been modernized; production is characterized by large scale, full mechanization, heavy use of fertilizers, and high yields. Horticulture is still in the transitional period. Labour shortage makes mechanization necessary, but large-scale fully mechanized production and suitable high yielding varieties have not yet been developed. Changes are costly.
