The role of the oophagous parasite Achrysocharella ruforum Krausse (Eulophidae, Hymenoptera) in the biological regulation of the pale pine sawfly Diprion pallidum Klug (Diprionidae, Hymenoptera)

The role of the oophagous parasite Achrysocharella ruforum Krausse (Eulophidae, Hymenoptera) in the biological regulation of the pale pine sawfly Diprion pallidum Klug (Diprionidae, Hymenoptera)

Zeitschrift fur Angewandte Entomologie 83(4): 398-406

An outbreak of Gilpinia pallida (Klug) (Diprion pallidum) occurred on Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) in the area of Carinthia (Austria) known as the Unterland in 1969-72, and the collapse of the outbreak in 1972 was largely due to the egg-parasite Achrysocharella ruforum (Krausse). The systematic position, distribution and importance of this eulophid are reviewed from the literature, and investigations carried out with it in 1971-72 are reported.
