Tolerance of creeping red fescue and timothy to herbicides used to control Canada thistle

Tolerance of creeping red fescue and timothy to herbicides used to control Canada thistle

Canadian Journal of Plant Science 56(2): 331-338

Field experiments at 7 locations in northern Alberta confirmed that picloram is an effective herbicide for the control of Cirsium arvense in seed crops of creeping red fescue (Festuca rubra) and timothy (Phleum pratense). Dicamba and 2,4-D were less effective. Pre-sowing herbicide treatments were tolerated by both grass species provided that one growing season elapsed between treatment and sowing.
