Variations in haemolymph protein in females of Musca domestica L. showed variations during the course of the gonotrophic cycle. Females deprived of protein food showed progressive lowering of the haemolymph protein and could not accomplish normal vitellogenesis. In males, the haemolymph protein tended to decrease progressively with age after a slight initial rise.
