The composition of foods used in the Indian nutritional intervention programme is discussed. Bal Ahar is a dry blend of flours from cereals, oilseed meals and pulses. Several compositions are used with 18-23% protein, 3.3-4.6 g lysine/16 g N and 3.0-3.2 g total S amino acids.
