Viability and vigour of stored seed of blackgram in India (Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper)

In 1973 seeds of V. mungo Co 2 at 8% m.c. were treated with thiram alone, or with Nuvan or DDT, and stored either in (a) a bag or (b) a paper-Al foil-polyethylene laminated (P-AF-P) pouch for up to 2 yr at ambient RH and temp. Within 4 months untreated seeds stored in (a) were heavily infested with Callosobruchus sp. and Tribolium castaneum resulting in considerable loss of viability and vigour, and were dead after 12 months.
