Vitamin B12 requirement of breeding hens on yeast grown on n-paraffin

Vitamin B12 requirement of breeding hens on yeast grown on n-paraffin

Japanese Poultry Science 13(1): 1-7

Ten groups of 10 hens had a diet containing 15% yeast grown on n-paraffin, without supplementary vitamin B-12, and 2 groups had a control diet. After 5 weeks on the yeast diet, vitamin B-12, 0.09, 0.18, 0.36 or 0.72 mu g/hen day was injected every second day. The eggs laid in the second week of injections were set in an incubator. The number of chickens that died before hatching was significantly greater on the yeast diet without vitamin injection than on the control diet.
