Abstract
3 groups of 7 Holstein-Friesians in mid lactation were fed for 30 days a normal ration with 14% crude protein (CP) and 22% crude fibre (CF) ad lib.; concentrate with 15.7% CP and 11.7% CF ad lib.; or concentrate restricted to energy intake of normal ration. Least square mean and s.e. for milk yield was 18.5 plus or minus 0.4, 20.9 plus or minus 0.4 and 18.8 plus or minus 0.5 kg and for milk fat % was 3.61 plus or minus 0.1, 2.5 plus or minus 0.2 and 3.3 plus or minus 0.1, difference significant at P <0.01.
