A comparison of milk yield, service period and calving interval in Holstein-Friesian cows in Mexico in relation to genetic origin and geographic location

1520 lactation records of Holstein-Friesian cows of 3 different genetic origins were analysed. For cows in the Bajio, Norte, Hidalgo and Puebla districts of Mexico, 305-day lactation milk yield averaged 6202, 6576, 6439 and 4328 kg resp., and milk yield of cows originating from Mexico, the USA and Canada averaged 6328, 6586 and 6473 kg resp.
