1. For 7 days 38 female Wistar rats weighing 90 to 95 g had as source of protein casein 95 with 5% methionine and supplementary labelled N, 6.6 mg/100 g rat daily as mmonium acetate, then from day 8 for 5 days without the 15N supplement, about 10% test protein in DM sufficient for maintenance and equivalent to 115 kcal/kg0.75. Biological value of the protein sources was assessed from least 15N excretion in urine from days 2 to 5 as a percentage of truly digested N.
