Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association 176(3): 221-223

ISSN/ISBN: 0003-1488

PMID: 7189189

Of 202 horses examined at autopsy from January to July 1979 in Kentucky, USA, 60 (30%) were infected with Thelazia lacrymalis. 41 horses had worms in both eyes. The highest number of worms/horse was 130. Data on age distributions of infected horses in this and a previous (1975-76) study (see Hm/A 45, 4452 and 46, 3039) are tabulated. The highest proportion of horses infected with T. lacrymalis was <1 to 3 years old.
