, : Alteration of young apple tree structure with 2,3-dihydro-5,6-diphenyl-1,4-oxathiin (UBI-P-293). Acta Horticulturae (80): 55-58

The compound UBI-P-293 was applied at 500-5000 p.p.m. alone or in combination with daminozide at 1000 p.p.m. and/or ethephon at 250 p.p.m. to young apple trees shortly after blooom. UBI-P-293 alone caused slowing or cessation of activity of terminal growing points and stimulated much lateral bud-break. Total growth from branches of treated trees was increased and increased branching from older wood was also observed.
