15 soyabean were grown at sparse, standard and dense spacings in 1973-6. Yield of seed on the main stem generally increased as plant density increased, but yield on branches was highest at the standard spacing in most The correlation between the ratio of seed yield on branches to that on the main stem and the ratio of 100-seed wt. on branches to that on the main stem was positive in sparse plantings and negative in dense ones.
