Assessment of yield losses in the cotton crop caused by Heliothis spp

Details are given of studies in the laboratory and in the field in Colombia in 1970 to quantify the yield losses in cotton attributable to attacks by the complex of Heliothis spp. (H. virescens (F.) and H. zea (Boddie)) on the fruiting organs of the crop. The yield obtained from plots completely protected by insecticides from attack throughout the whole growing season was compared with that from untreated plots.
