Biological aspects of development of lambs from multiple births

Biological aspects of development of lambs from multiple births

Ovtsevodstvo (4): 35-37

Data were obtained on a Karakul flock where the litter-size distribution in 1978 was as follows: singles, 46.5%, twins, 44.5%; triplets, 7.0%; quadruplets, 2.0%; 51% of multiple-birth litters contained lambs of different sexes. Post-mortem examination of 5 ewes carrying large litters revealed numerous anastomoses among placental blood vessels of foetuses of different sexes.
