Biological studies of the population dynamics of rice brown planthopper and green leafhopper

When the influence of weather on populations of the brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens (Stal)) and the green leafhopper on rice was studied in Tamil Nadu, India, it was found that populations of Nephotettix increased at both higher maximum and minimum temperatures; they showed a negative correlation with relative humidity but there was no correlation with rainfall. Populations of Nilaparvata lugens decreased both at high maximum temperatures and low minimum temperatures.
