Tests were carried out in Kansas to determine the effectiveness of chlorpyrifos-methyl and malathion applied as protectants against insect infestation in eight 1.5-ton lots of clean 14.6%-moisture, hard red winter wheat stored in plywood bins. The wheat was sampled before treatment and at various intervals over a 9-month period for live insects present, exposure to test insects (bioassays), moisture content and determination of insecticide residues.
