Co-operative studies on working load and physical stress for farmers in recent Japan. 2. A study on the agricultural work load of farmers and its effect on their health in a rice farming district

2. For 6 men and 8 women rice farmers in Hokuriku district of Japan, amount of time spent in different occupations was noted for 48 h of every month in 1973. Once a month bodyweight was measured and blood was taken for estimation of Hb, haematocrit and total protein. A table with English headings shows for each sex the time spent in different occupations; graphs show seasonal changes in total hours of farm work, daily energy intake, bodyweight and blood composition.
