Commercial stocks for broiler production: body weights, feed conversion efficiency, carcass yield, mortality, rate of lay and egg quality traits of three commercial broiler stocks

350 day-old chicks of each stock were reared to 10 wk of age, when 5 males and 5 females of each strain were slaughtered to study meat yield. Egg laying performance to 52 wk of age was studied in 96, 123 and 120 pullets of the 3 stocks. Body weight at 10 wk, measured on all birds, differed significantly among stocks (range, 1260-1663 g). Mortality (9.0-33.71%) and the food conversion index (2.60-2.75) also differed significantly among stocks.
