In patients infected with Trichophyton interdigitale or T. rubrum in affected skin areas LDG5 activity was higher and LDG1 and LDG2 activity lower than in healthy subjects. The results indicate changes in glycolysis towards predominance of anaerobic processes and reduced energy generation in the affected skin.
