Comparative trials of different cultivars and sources of Papaver somniferum

, : Comparative trials of different cultivars and sources of Papaver somniferum. Acta Horticulturae (73): 27-34

Alkaloid production, seed yield and capsule yield were recorded for a large number of opium poppy cvs from various sources. The morphine content was comparatively low in all cases (the maximum being 0.31%) whereas the thebaine and codeine contents of the empty ripe capsules were quite high (maxima 0.55% and 0.32%, respectively).
