Comparison of tolerance and therapeutic effect of anthelmintics (fenbendazole, mebendazole and dichlorvos) against gastrointestinal nematodes in the dog. I. Fenbendazole

Comparison of tolerance and therapeutic effect of anthelmintics (fenbendazole, mebendazole and dichlorvos) against gastrointestinal nematodes in the dog. I. Fenbendazole

Veterinarski Glasnik 32(8): 701-707

Fenbendazole given in single doses of 25, 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg body weight, three doses of 20 mg/kg and five doses of 10 or 20 mg/kg produced no toxic effects on 25 dogs infected with intestinal nematodes, did not affect the function of the liver, blood or kidneys, and caused no clinical abnormalities. Single doses of 25, 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg were not entirely effective against Toxocara canis, Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala and Trichuris vulpis.
