Concentrations of 2-methyl-1,4-benzoquinone (MBQ), 2-ethyl-1,4-benzoquinone (EBQ) and 1-pentadecene (PD) in Tribolium confusum Duv. and T. castaneum (Hbst.) were found to be extremely low in newly emerged adults (<20 mu g/insect). The levels of all 3 compounds increased with age until 20-30 days after adult emergence, after which time the concentrations were maintained or declined slowly.
