Control of Phalaris minor Retz. and wild oats in wheat with new herbicides

Isoproturon at 1 kg/ha and metoxuron 1.2 kg applied at the 2- to 3-tiller stage of wheat after the first irrigation provided effective control of Phalaris minor, Avena ludoviciana, Poa annua and some broad-leaved weeds. Isoproturon proved somewhat more reliable than either metoxuron or methabenzthiazuron (applied pre-em. at 1.05 kg/ha), particularly on medium to heavy soils. Lathyrus aphaca was resistant to these treatments.
