Direct drilling grass in chemically destroyed grassland

Direct drilling grass in chemically destroyed grassland

UK, Agricultural Development and Advisory Service, South East Region: Livestock and forage crops Summary of experiments, studies and surveys, 1977: 39-41

In the second year of the experiment reported in WA 27, 2539, glyphosate at 1.8 kg/ha (the higher rate tested) was required for complete sward destruction. Three direct drills were compared for sowing ryegrass; of these the Moore Uni-Drill appeared to be the most satisfactory. However, no treatment gave rapid establishment of a full sward. A similar experiment was begun in spring 1977 on a poorly-drained Poa-dominated permanent pasture.
