Ecology of the semi-arid regions of India with emphasis on land-use

Ecology of the semi-arid regions of India with emphasis on land-use

Developments in Agricultural and Managed Forest Ecology 7: 243-275

After a definition of the geographical extent of India's semi-arid zones with reference to various classification schemes, the climate, geology, and soils of these regions are discussed. The human population is examined, as well as livestock and poultry. Wild fauna and vegetation are discussed, with special reference to classification of vegetation areas, grasslands, and croplands.
