In plot trials with hybrid maize grown on sandy loam soil, applications of 160 kg N + 115 kg P2O5 + 75 kg K2O/ha alone and especially with 2-6 p.p.m. Co and/or 5-15 p.p.m. Si applied to the soil markedly increased the DM accumulation during the period 35-98 days after sowing; application of NPK + 4 p.p.m. Co + 10 p.p.m.
