In 12 Aotus trivirgatus monkeys infected at less than 25% parasitaemia with Plasmodium falciparum Vietnam-Oak Knoll strain (FVO), the response of blood lymphocytes (PBL) to mitogen stimulation was normal; but if the parasitaemia was greater than 25% the response to Concanavalin A (Con A) was depressed. A suppression of responsiveness to Con A was also seen in 8 monkeys infected with the Uganda-Palo Alto strain but at 10 to 25% parasitaemia.
