In trials in 1963-74 with potatoes on derno-podzolic acid soil, application of ground limestone to the full neutralizing value decreased tuber yields and starch contents; adverse effects of limestone were completely eliminated by applying Mn, B and especially Mg. Application of ground dolomite gave persistent increases in yields, had no adverse effect on starch contents and increased the efficiency of the applied K.
