In a field trial in Oct. 1971-April 1972, hybrid forage sorghum Sordan was grown at 10, 20, 30 or 40 plants/m of row in rows 30 cm apart and N was broadcast between the rows at 0, 100, 200 or 300 kg/ha in 4 equal parts at sowing and after the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cuts. There was a significant response in yield of total DM and CP from applied N. An estimated max. yield of 17.4 t DM/ha was obtained at 253 kg N/ha. Av. CP yields were 0.93 and 2.32 t/ha and av.
