A field experiment was conducted in New Delhi during kharif 1970 and 1971. Grain yield increased with increasing levels of P up to 100 kg P2O5/ha; however, an application of only 25 kg is recommended. Of the 4 varieties, P-4785 yielded the highest. Rhizobium inoculation also significantly increased the grain yield and the effects were more distinct in presence of phosphate.
