In field and glasshouse experiments in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, 7 herbicides or herbicide mixtures, recommended for use in soybeans, were applied to sandy soil at 2 different rates. Observations 20 and 40 days after treatment showed no significant effects on soil nitrification by any of the compounds in the field but under glass naptalam + dinoseb caused a 78% reduction in nitrification as compared with the control.
