In a controlled trial with 106 gilts and sows the i/m administration of Selevit (a vitamin E and selenium prepartum) 15 days before parturition reduced the number of affected litters from 13.3 to 3.9% in gilts and from 8.9 to 5.4% in sows and the number of piglets with splayleg in affected litters from 39 to 26% in gilts and from 50 to 33% in sows.
