In trials with the tomato Moneymaker, the plants received superphosphate at 2250 or 3750 kg/ha or KCl at 0 or 5500 kg/ha; irrigation was applied every 5, 10, 15 or 20 days. Plant growth and development were significantly affected by the irrigation regime, being greatest at the shortest interval, and to a much lesser extent by the nutrient levels.
