Abstract
In a 4 X 4 Latin square trial, 4 zebu bulls of about 200 kg liveweight got freely chopped sugar cane stalk alone or 67:33 in mixture with cane tops, banana leaves or cassava forage on fresh basis. With feeds in that order, digestibility of DM was 67.1, 72.1, 68.7 and 64.4%, total DM intake was 2.98, 3.43, 4.00 and 4.10 kg daily and intake of cane tops was 2.98, 2.55, 2.97 and 3.03 kg DM daily. Addition of any of the other 3 forages significantly increased total DM intake without having any significant effect on intake or digestibility of sugar cane stalk.
