With a view to providing a source of green fodder, defoliation at the 9th complete leaf stage to leave 15 cm of the leaf was applied to 3 maize given 0 or 100 kg N/ha. Application of N increased fresh wt. of defoliated plants. Defoliation decreased plant ht., dry wt. of roots, leaves, cob and husks, total DM content except in the stem, and LAR.
