Efficacy of carbofuran seed treatment for the control of sorghum shootfly at different levels of nitrogen fertilisation

Field-plot tests were carried out in India in 1977 to evaluate the effectiveness of seed treatment with carbofuran at different rates for the control of Atherigona soccata Rond. on sorghum treated with different levels of nitrogen fertilizer (ammonium sulfate). The percentage of dead hearts showed that the level of nitrogen had little effect on the control of the pest. However, as the concentration of carbofuran increased, the level of control increased.
