Single day-7 eggs (oestrus = day 0) were transferred surgically to the uterine horn contralateral to the corpus luteum in synchronised heifers. In the 1st of 2 experiments, 10 females served as untreated controls and were slaughtered on days 24-26, and 10 females received 100 mg progesterone daily from day 13 until slaughter on days 24-26.
