Experimental Leptospira pomona infection and carrier state in calves

Experimental Leptospira pomona infection and carrier state in calves

Uchenye Zapiski Kazanskogo Gosudarstvennogo Veterinarnogo Instituta 126: 79-82

Eighteen of 20 calves were injected with 6-mercaptopurine or one or more doses of hydrocortisone, as immunodepressants, then infected with Leptospira pomona. Two died, and six were killed 60-120 days later, and examined by serology, bacteriology, histology and histochemistry. Leptospires were found in the uriniferous tubules of the kidney, and between epithelial cells.
